    Friday 8/28 rides

I rode the same route I have been riding about 8.5 miles. I had a terrible time today with my left foot and calf cramping up on me. It is so hard to concentrate on your riding and try to ignore the cramping. I mean charlie horse cramping in my foot. Not my right foot though. It's weird.

I think I will take a break tomorrow. I went a little faster today even with the cramping, but I think my legs are trying to tell me something or maybe I am not getting the right kinds of minerals or vitamins or something.

I got rained on today! After visiting with a friend, I drove to meet my cycling friend at around 4:45. It was already spitting out and the forecast looked bad, with the tropical storm heading in. We planned a 20 mile ride, but after we got to around mile 8, it started getting heavier, so we re-routed back to Acton, up Boxborough Rd in Stow. Since I had climbed this road yesterday, I was able to kick it up a bit. Nothing like rain to make you ride fast! I was in my big ring almost the whole ride. It lightened up for the last 3 miles, but I was glad I had my arm warmers on, since the temperature had gone down almost 10 degrees.
By the time I drove home, it was pouring. We did 15 miles and my legs are feeling it, mostly because I rode 4 days in a row, which is not usual for me.

I rode 60 miles Friday; the a.m. commute half was really nice - blue skies, nice and cool, met up with my commuting partner at the halfway point. It took me 1:50 to get in.
Home was a different story - like Crankin, I had to deal with the beginnings of the rain from Tropical Storm Danny. I left Providence at 4:20, got through South Providence and all the messy trafficky bits, and then once in Cranston it started coming down. I wasn't alone on the path - I passed a few runners and a couple of commuters coming the other way.
In West Warwick the rain let up some, but started again by the time I crossed back over the highway to West Greenwich. All the way down (and up, and down) route 3 it poured.
I was pretty dirty when I got home.
Good ride, though. All in all.
I can do five more miles.

29 miles out to Marymoor Park (last miles was back and forth looking for DH and the puppydog). Perfect weather. Ran into salsabike, who was heading back in the other direction. Beautiful day!

22 miles in steady rain. Knew it would be. Just planned to train in the wet stuff for good practice. No crazy drivers came close to running me over like the day before. Yippie. And my new Park chain cleaning tool showed up JIT to use it to wash the grit mess. Now if I can get brave enough to remove my cassette & derailer pulleys, my roadie girl could get a real bath vs. a sponge one.
