Homeschool. Nine subjects every day (Critical Thinking, Geography, Grammar & Writing, Math, Science, Spelling, Greek & Latin, U.S. History, and World History) -- additional subjects taught on a rotating basis include Meteorology, Astronomy, Oceanography, Spanish, Archaeology & Anthropology, Health, P.E., Art, Environmental Studies, and Penmanship.

Oldest daughter wanted to attend high school, so she's a 9th grader in public school now; youngest daughter is homeschooled and in 6th grade.

I know, some may not think homeschooling qualifies me to consider myself a teacher, but I do. I have a Master's degree (albeit, not in education), I create lesson plans, write supplemental material, teach lessons, grade assignments, etc. It's a 24/7 endeavor in this household. Both girls read at a 12th-grade level in 1st grade; the eldest outscored every student in the corporation but one who took the Indiana Algebra I End-of-Course Assessment last spring. You betcha I teach!!!

For those of you who spend your days in traditional classrooms with 30+ kids from all walks of life, sometimes under less-than-ideal circumstances, you have my utmost respect and admiration!! Truly there is nothing more noble than building character and helping children develop a love of learning. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I know this doesn't officially count for formal schooling, so I didn't answer the poll, but I teach Spinning at my gym. Students 18-70+yo. I love it! It's something I have a passion for and enjoy sharing with others.

It's always been one of my life's dreams to teach at the college level. Applied at community college before. But, no luck. I don't have a formal teaching degree--thinking that's part of it. Just have to keep working at how I can get there.

I teach music at a university known for it's engineering programs - sometimes I feel like a foreigner on my own campus! Today was our first day and it's going to be a FUN year!

The Tour of Missouri will be ending RIGHT IN FRONT of my building again! I get to cancel classes (they use my classroom for the media people) and see the Tour! WOOHOO!! Did I mention that last year several of the cyclists were....uhm....changing clothes and were NAKED in my parking lot (it's where they park the buses) Our secretary is hoping to catch a glimpse this year.

Yeah our upper school cycling team has volunteered to be marshalls for the circuit race in St. Louis. Just to have the air from all those amazing cyclists rush past me will be a thrill!

I teach multi-age 1st/2nd/3rd at the neighborhood public school. Have been doing that (or variations) for 18 years now. I started with K/1/2/3 and 34 kids, and then with class size reduction, mostly 1/2/3.

It's also a multi-year program, so we get very close, and start the year at a run! I love living in Davis, CA too, a bike friendly town. The majority of kids bike to school, and the younger ones bike here with parents alongside. Even some of our field trips are done on bike!

A very wonderful school with gardens, a chicken coop, large trees, fruit trees, and compost bins. My kind of school!

Oh! This is fascinating; I would never have consideredd ITT Tech for teaching English. Hmmm. Because that's what I do, teach English online, (writing) at community college.

And yes, Monday is official end-of-summer day. *Sadface*

I tutor "underprepared" students at the community college in a computer lab - and also help a lot of "returning" (i.e., significantly older than 19 ) students figure out how to navigate the computer for academic purposes and remember what School is. (Right now I'm designing a tutorial for "using assistive technology for academic purposes" and putting the finishing touches on a mess of reading comprehension exercises to go with "Freak the Mighty.")

We've been crazy busy this week ... but there's nothing quite like having said a few encouraging words at the right time so a student decides that yes, she can... I am so in awe of the people brave enough to put it on the line and get out there and go back to school

Social worker/counselor in K-5, since 1986. Prior to that 8 years as a special ed teacher; prior to that grade 5, and grades 7-8 math and English. Hoping to retire in about 5 years, after youngest son finishes college. As much as I like kids and school, I feel more balanced during summer breaks when I can ride regularly. A little sadness this time of year when I know I'll lose cycling time.

I am a primary teacher - mostly grade 2 and 3. This year I am teaching a Grade 2/3 split at a brand new school! I unpacked 37 boxes last week and have lots more to do to get ready for the kids who arrive on Sept. 8th. I can't wait!

I love this book, but I used it with 7th graders who had reading difficulties!
