    My daughter's first road bike

I just sprung for my 16 year old daughter's first road bike. Got a great deal on a 2010 bike from the LBS - I've bought two bikes from them already. I'm excited as she's said she will do the 55 mile Tour de Woodside with me end of September (she's ridden 30 miles already, so I think she can do it - we start training next weekend). I only have a stock photo, but she has this one exactly:

Oh and the LBS has already said that they will switch the white tape for black in a month when it's all dingy. But it sure looks pretty with the white.

SWEET!!!! Oo! Like Sweet 16! Ha!

How awesome that you can do this together. If she falls in love with cycling, you'll always have something you can enjoy together. And the more she rides her bike, the less time she'll have to think about boys.

She actually does like to ride with me. She'll usually take my higher end Cannondale out to ride either me (I'm on my Surly), or with her friends. So this was kind of in self defense :P, but also to nurture a love of cycling. I need to work with her on shifting - she rides the triple ring like she would a single speed, which is fine for the flats around here, but won't get her up any of the mountains.

Nice bike! That is sweet that she rides with you. My DD is turning 16 tomorrow and won't ride with me. She did mountain bike a few times until she got a tick on her. We have played tennis together though which was fun.

That is great! BTW, if she likes the look of the white tape, it isn't that hard to keep clean. I have had mine with white tape for over a year and 1600 miles now. I have kept it looking pretty good with some soft scrub, but when I do get it replaced eventually, I will probably get a different color.

Lori - THANKS!! It does really look purty with the white bar tape. So far it's staying clean - she's still riding it to school. We go on our first ride together this weekend.
