    I wasn't going to follow a link that someone out of the blue pm'd to me.

    It could have been free, but from my perspective that doesn't matter one bit. It was an unsolicited advertisement.

    Exactly. No one should be using the TE member private messaging system to promote anything. It's an abuse of the forum, and it's SPAM- doesn't matter whether it's to make money or not.

    No, I agree that it was mis-use, or at least, undesirable use, of the pm system, I was just questioning the bit about "misusing the forum for commercial interests". I felt the content was fine, the placing and the multiple messages was not.

    But I'm fine with people posting general invites to other forums, I don't find that inappropriate.
