I'm lucky to be walking today!
I wrecked on a descent at about mile 20 of a 50 mile endurance race... I lost control and somehow became airborne, bouncing once in a rock garden and sliding another 10 feet or so downhill... I ended up laying on the ground for a minute and slowly working my way back onto my feet. Then I finished the race and came in 2nd
Besides some major bruising, a cracked helmet, and a pulled groin muscle, I'm just really sore. I downloaded my Garmin file for the race... apparently I was going 35 mph when I lost it. I knew it felt that fast, but I had convinced myself that it wasn't because I didn't think I'd be up & around if I'd been going that fast.
I feel like I've had a near death experience...

Wow, I am glad you did not get hurt too bad. Just make sure everything is okay, since you did crack your helmet Congrats on the 2nd place finish. I would also ice some of those bruised areas.
i'm glad it wasn't any worse!

I'm glad you're (relatively) okay, especially after going that fast.
Impressive! That's an awesome story. Good work![]()
So glad you're okay!

Kickin' it old school on my Huffy, but hey, I RIDE!![]()
You are a woman on a mission! I read your post on the "OTHER" site. I hope you are "only" sore. Sounds like a mild concussion among other things. Keep track of your body. Just in case something doesn't feel like it should. My husband endowed really bad on the mountain bike one day, went home thought nothing of it. Well he cracked a vertebrae on his back and never new it, until the back surgery. Not trying to scare you, you are young and heal well. Just saying, don't ignore the pain. Tough girls tend to blow stuff off. I too am one of them! Some may call it...stubborn!
Oh my goodness!! Good grief, girl! Glad you lived to tell about it. Where was the race? How is your bike?
It was in North Georgia... thanks for all the well-wishes. After some ice and a couple hours of riding, it seems that the only injury that's sticking around are the random bruises and the pulled groin. I hope it goes away quickly!
The bike is good- wheels didn't even need truing!
If you cracked your helmet it might be wise to get your head checked. Heck since you kept going I would recommend a full mental check-up too.J/k glad you and the Niner are okay!
