Anyone else want to volunteer at Danskin Tri this Sunday Aug. 16?

Seattle Danskin still needs volunteers, at the Expo on Saturday and on the bike course and also for crossing guards on Sunday. I'm volunteering this year, as is Teigyr and her spouse. Anyone else available and interested, see their website: http://www.seattledanskintri.com/

Colby! Hope to see you there. We'll be at the volunteer check-in tent off 43rd S. north of Genesee St.

I think it will be a ton of fun to do a little giving back to the race that gives so many women their first tri experience!

I was thinking of volunteering Saturday morning myself at the expo/packet pick-up, since that'd still leave me enough time to rack my bike and whatever. Their numbers looked a little low on a lot of the Saturday stuff. I'm just not sure where I'll be and when right now.

Here's the URL directly to the numbers: http://www.seattledanskintri.com/Positions.aspx - looks like they got a lot of people since I checked last. Hooray!!

That's this weekend already? Boy I've been out of it. I'll check out the site tonight and see about signing up to help.

Colby, I think I saw you on the run course! It looked like you, were you wearing blue? I can't remember what time we were out there but we were doing crossing guard duty on the path on the start of the run (like right when you came out of transition and headed down the road).

    How was the race?

Yes! I was wearing blue. I came through about... 8:55 or so? Almost 9? Seriously, if I was thinking, I should have posted my number on Saturday! DUH!

I didn't pass the volunteer tent when I checked my stuff in, despite the fact that the volunteer tent was probably right next to my transition area so I completely forgot to stop by on Saturday.

I had a good time and did well. This is definitely one race where volunteers make all the difference! Thanks for coming out.

Danskin and Trek Triathlons in Seattle

I have a few questions regarding the Danskin and Trek Triathlons. Now that Sally Edwards is not with Danskin did anyone go across the finish line with the last person yesterday? Also, I checked out Trek's website and no where did I see where they're putting money towards Breast Cancer Research. Is that true or did I miss something. How much is going towards Breast Cancer Research from each of them if they are indeed giving some of the proceeds towards that research.

Danskin is putting money into breast cancer research but I don't know how much. I don't know about Trek.

The people that finished last were quite happy, actually! While nobody finished behind them, the remainder of the spectators made an arch for them to run through and the tape went back up (previously only the first place person had "broken" it) for them. They also got quite a few presents. DH was volunteering on the run course and I hear the motorcycle officer following them was singing on his microphone and they were dancing.

Colby, I wish I would've said something but you looked pretty focused. I would've hated to slow you yelling out "heycolbythisisteigyrfromTEHEY!!!youlookGREAT!"

It looks like Trek is donating to Team Survivor and the Breast Cancer Research Fund, too. I'll probably come back over for it - at one point somehow I figured out there were 840 people registered.
