In the past two weeks I met my personal goal and commuted by bike all 6 days (3/week)!
After that one rough day I had with the wind, it has been much better. Granted, my commute is only 3 miles each way but lately I have been finishing stronger than when I start and thats a good feeling and I have been increasing my average speed. On my daily rides I don't so much care about that but on my commute I want to get home before dark. I'm up to an average on 11 mph on my heavy heavy W**mart MTB (one evening I hit 15mph-I was flying, relatively). Even if the wind is up, its not as bad as that first time...I really think my body has adapted.
I am still working out ways to afford a new bike which will help and I drool over all the lovely pics here...trying to make time to go test riding but I hate to go in to a LBS empty handed so to speak so I'm waiting a bit til I can afford something.
So far, commuting has been terrific!

    Way to go!!!!
Just think of how fast you'll be when you get a sleek, light bike.

I commuted two days this week and I really think it puts me in a MUCH better mood when I both arrive at work and when I get back home.
    Yay for commuting!!!

They did a study that showed that people who rode their bikes to work were the happiest at work of all the people using various commuting transportation.

3 miles is a brilliant distance to ride, and you'll be amazed at how strong u become. I used to do that distance when i was at a further away school, 5 days a week and often riding really fast in the morning because i was late... i was fittest and slimmest then. my current school is like... 1 mile away... i barely get to push myself and i'm already there....
