I found a Euro size conversion chart. I think these would be a bit too roomy for me. And to be honest, I'm still kind of chicken about the whole clipping thing.

Roxy, I am a 8.5-9.5 wide and bought some Sidis on ebay in 42. They are the most comfortable shoes (I kid you not). If they didn't have the platform bottoms I'd wear them with everything! LOL.
I can do five more miles.

Yes, there's nothing like a well made Italian leather shoe.

    try it on locally....

Roxy - really. this is a great deal. But I understand the difficulty in buying on-line. Just find a local bike shop and try on a size 42. I wear anything from an 8-1/2 - 9-1/2 but I have a super narrow foot and I was swimming in these wide shoes, thus, I'm selling them. They are just a standard SIDI women's size 42 (the pink ribbon is women's).

My plan to break into the clip system is to get a 2-sided pedal from Shimano. One side is just a flat pedal and the other has the clip. I know there will be lots of people who don't agree with this strategy, but lots of local women I know have used it successfully. That way, if I'm riding in a situation where I don't feel comfortable being clipped in, I just flip the pedal over. And on our local bike path which I know super well, I can clip in. Also for the climbing !

That's my game plan! but try the shoes locally and let me know if you're interested.

    YEAH! I did it!

I finally tried the clip-ins today and am amazed ! shocked !! and thrilled !!! how easy it was. geez. I got a Shimano double sided pedal with an SPD clip-in and set it on the easiest setting. It's like the clip has a magnet on it - it just pops in and pops out. I put this off for 2 years because I was a newbie biker put with my rides now topping 30 miles, it was time to get some bike shoes. I'm so glad I finally tried it and really want to encourage other fence sitters to jump in! http://forums.teamestrogen.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
