Carbon Shoes Solve Hot Spots

My carbon soled shoes did not resolve the hot spot issue. Arch pedaling did.

Arch pedaling is where I place my foot respective to the pedal. I like platforms because I can change it often.

Yes- both mtb and road.
Road- Shimano R099 and Sidi Zephyrs. Great shoes. The Shimanos fit me a little more comfortably in normal to thick socks, and the Sidis work better with thin socks as they have a smaller toebox.

For MTB, I have Shimano WM80s. Love em. Nice wide toe box. I had some Sidi Bullet 2s, but they flexed and hurt my arches (which really aren't arches, they are more like flat planks). I don't use those any more.

Stiff fiber soles in properly fitting shoes, with good insoles, work wonders. I put the Specialized BG footbeds with the proper vargus wedges in the two road shoes, and the Louis Garneau heat customizable ones in the mtb shoes. I used to get hot feet all the time- terrible- it would make me miserable. Now I ride for hours and my feet feel great. And IMO I think Shimano is the best value in cycling shoes (at least their fiber soled shoes). Great shoes, well made, reasonable prices.
