. Discipline at the rest stops will be my challenge. OBR has some of the best rest stops of any organized ride I've ever done, and it's really easy to overindulge on all the goodies they put out for the riders.

You are on vacation. However, in spite of that, the calories DO count. But a week of small indulgences will not totally dis-rail you. Enjoy your vacation! While in Maine I ate a lot of Maine specific food that is not exactly healthy - cream horns come to mind. I always want to come back weighing the same as when I left; and that made me go run some mornings while on vacation.

    Mmmm, creme horns....

    168.9 for me today.

It's working, it's working! In fact, I saw that number, blinked twice, and then smiled. Then after finishing the chores, I *almost* decided to stop at a coffee shop for breakfast on my way into work. I managed to eventually talk myself off the ledge. I did pull a fresh loaf of my own zucchini bread out of the freezer and a slice of that will be my 'splurge'. Sooooo much better (tasting and for me) than coffee shop pastries/baked goods!

It's all about choices...and making the right ones often enough to see results.

I only eat them in Maine, same thing with Whoopie Pies. There's something unique about the filling of Maine creme horns.

And Italians... I think it's the bread. At least they aren't too bad, other than all the bread. Yeah, trips to Maine are a nutritional nightmare.

I don't even know what a creme horn is. And that's probably a good thing.

GLC - way to go! Little changes yield big results.

Flaky crust with a hollow center, filled with a sugary creme filling... my sister makes sure she has some on hand for me.

And yes, good job GLC. I was distracted by thoughts of creme horns. I wonder if there is a recipe for them in my Grange cookbook...

staying put this week (214.6), but not surprising considering the lack of cycling/exercise this week. aiming high for next week, but August will be a busy month with company every week-end (and that always means I'll be baking lots of cakes). Luckily all the company are expecting lots of hiking so the exercise bit will be easy.

Yes, you do not know what you are missing and you should definitely keep it that way!

I feel the same about Biscuitville and milkshakes from CookOut (two restaurants in NC that everyone raved about, which I refused to try!).

ok..I am up 2 lbs this week... 245.2

It is not from the lack of exercise. I looked back and 4 days I had very few "net" calories so I think my body went into starvation mode.

I will work hard on that this week.

140 this morning - I guess all that walking in DC made up for the eating.
