I'm used to knobby tires for many years, then transferring to a road bike made me feel a little "off" for the first couple days, but you get used to it fast. :-)
The soreness gets better over time. Make sure that everything has been fitted properly, that's the important thing, from saddles, handlebars height and angle, angle of the saddle, etc etc. Some soreness *is* expected, but persistent pain (esp girly parts), is not. It took me a good 1 1/2 weeks for everything to settle in just right. Everyone's different.
After you get more comfortable in your bike, you will be more comfortable doing little tricks (one handed, no hands, hairpin turns, jumping over potholes/manholes, etc).
Good luck!
