Great race ... especially considering the lack of training.
Shoot, I trained my butt off for my first HIM.. had a coach... and did it in 7:15. So yeah, you beat my time with little to no training.![]()
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside thoroughly used-up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!!"
I am a wimp...
Congratulations. Sometimes, just getting through with a mantra, like the "suitcase of courage" is all you need to get you through a lack of training. I know it helped me do a century with nothing longer than a 65 mile ride as training.
You have nothing to be disappointed in!
V - you're awesome as usual! The swim is just, well, the only word I can think of is impressive!
Thanks! I wish running came to me as easily as swimming. I am so envious of all the chicks on the board who can really run. Ah well... I do it for the challenge.
I feel pretty good today - other than the sun burnt shoulders and lower back from my top riding up. And my poor toesies! Both of my second biggest toes are in major pain. I think I'll end up losing the nails. Next time I buy shoes, I need to think about getting a race pair that are slightly bigger I think.

Congratulations Veronica!
BTW - you look fabulous in your Zoot tri apparel.Someday, I'd like to have arms that look like yours.

Congratulations, Veronica! Thanks for posting the fabulous photos. Suitcase of courage, indeed!
So sorry to hear about the sunburn.DH has had good luck with the 50+ Rocky Mountain Sunscreen during his Ironman competitions, even in the blazing Arizona sun.

Thanks! It's the same outfit I wore for my tris last year. It's kind of motivating because I can really see in the pictures how my body's changed over the year. And that outfit hides NOTHING!
I also really like it because the top is supportive enough for me to run in and the chamois in the shorts dries pretty quickly. They aren't as comfortable for 56 miles as regular bike shorts, but a little more saddle time would have helped that issue as well.
