when I crashed after a pothole found itself in my path's way, I banged up my right knee pretty badly. There was major bruising, swelling, and after the initial soft tissue injury subsided, I was left with a palpable bump. I asked one of the physicians in my swim club (that club has about 10 physicians!) if it was a bone chip and he said it's nothing to worry about and it'll go away on its own. And it did eventually go away, though I still have a dark mark around the wound that turned into a scar.

I am a mt biker, and I have them all the time. They can take months to go away. Every time I complain my DH says " well, stay on your bike"
