7miles today in 86 degree heat. Most of my tech gear is in the wash so I wasn't in my best wicking top, ended up taking off the tank & strapping it to my fuel belt. Thankfully there was some wind otherwise it could have been really miserable. Since I did a 2mi OWS w/o a wetsuit yesterday my body wasn't real keen on keeping a good pace, but it wasn't bad all things considered. Great heat training for the race next month.
For those of you curious, I tried out perpetuem paste during the run today. 1 1/2 scoops to 3/4 ounce water. It worked great, no upset stomach and went down very easily which is saying a lot since I don't like to take in fuel when I'm hot.![]()

Urlea - good for you for running in such heat. I find that exhausting.
Sooooo, the 300K ride I had planned for this Saturday got cancelled due to expected high temperatures (over 100 degrees). So, I *could* have done my 10 mile long run this morning, but ended up just doing a 50 minute run instead. I haven't been getting enough sleep these past two weeks, and really just felt like I didn't have 10 miles in me this morning.
One of the nice things about Oregon is that even though it can get hot in the daytime this time of year, the nights almost always cool way down. It was 56 degrees for my run this morning, which I find to be just about perfect.![]()
4 miles for me this morning before breakfast at the B&B. My legs are pretty fried. We rode Appalachian Gap yesterday. It's where the road race portion of the Green Mountain Stage Race ends - a nice 20% grade for the last 1 K.

Yow V., what a climb!
Great to see you back running Kacie.
Me - mile repeats x 2, for a total of 4.4.
My raspberry cool-down is about done, except for a few late stragglers. Now I've got blackberries. Only trouble is, unlike raspberries which are ripe as soon as they're fully black, blackberries reach their final color before they're ripe, so the only way you can judge their ripeness is by feel. But once I've got my greedy fingers on a berry, it takes more self-restraint than I sometimes have not to pick it, even knowing it's going to be tart.![]()

2 miles on a treadmill--not bad, my hip gets a little sore, so I am just keeping the milage very low and ice every time. keep it up!
Urlea, when is your 50k?
Another attempt at a barefoot trail run today, but it was a complete fiasco! I just couldn't relax enough to run (or even walk) over gravel etc. without it hurting--maybe my feet were extra sensitive from Tuesday's run/walk so things were more painful to step on than usual. And to top it off, the bugs were awful!!
