yep. I've seen a rabbit run right in front of him and him not see it, but airplanes he chases. I had a friend who called me a liar to my face when I told her that he did that. We went for a walk together a few weeks later and she suddenly started shouting "Oh My G, Oh My G..." and Lo and behold, Murphy was chasing an airplane. Next day she went around telling everyone.
My theory is that he's so short that he looks up and things on the ground, like rabbits, are under his field of view, but airplanes he sees. In that photo, he had been sniffing something on the ground and he heard an airplane, you can see him looking up, searching for it.
He also chases the Canada Geese that often fly overhead, as long as they are honking so he hears them.
