    Hi, new here

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Just want to introduce myself (not sure if this is the correct place or not). I have been reading here for the past couple of months and I love it here!
I have a pink Trek Pure Sport-it's a pedal forward bike. I was more than a little uneasy on a regular bike so this seemed like a good option. My husband started repairing bikes in his free time and wanted to ride. I was SO against it at first, I would make him go alone with the kids in tow. It was just too uncomfortable for me-I was afraid of regular bikes, felt too fat, and too uneasy about everything. I got the Pure and all of that changed! Now we ride all of the time and are talking about buying new bikes in the next 6 months or so.
I have been riding for 5 weeks and have been 215ish miles. I have about 100 pounds that I could stand to lose so I am being more aware of what goes in my body so that I can take advantage of the calories I burn.
I am so thankful for this forum and for the excitement that being on a bike has brought me!

Wink I'm a posting newbie, too...

[QUOTE=seventy_eight;448182]Just want to introduce myself (not sure if this is the correct place or not). I have been reading here for the past couple of months and I love it here!

I have been having great fun following all the threads, but felt a little nervous about diving in...I have an old LLB Evolution cross-trainer that I put lots of upgrades on and a 1 year old Specialized Dolce Elite. I have been riding for a long time but only in the last 4 or 5 years gotten more serious about "training" for event rides such as the Trek Across Maine and other fun group rides.
I have a good many pounds to lose, too. I've been fighting my weight for years and riding has been the best thing for my health that I've ever done!
I originally discovered this forum when desperately seeking shorts and jerseys that would actually fit "a woman of substance."
So anyway, glad to read a post from another newbie!

Welcome to you two new TE members!!!

I loved reading your stories of beginning/rediscovering biking- three years ago I got on a bike for the first time in about 38 years.
Keep it fun and enjoy your new biking lifestyle...don't forget to relax and smell the flowers as you ride, and don't let anyone push you around or discourage you.
