Sounds familiar! We went on some errands today with panniers (4 for my husband, 2 for me). After going to the post office (we got two heavy books we'd ordered from Amazon, in addition to regular mail), farmer's market, Performance bike shop, and the whole foods co-op, we peddled VERY slowly home (into a headwind, I might add, and more uphill than down, ugh!) When we got home, we weighed what we'd been carrying. Me: 21.5 lbs, Barry: 46.5 lbs. Ouch! Yes, it was a challenge, but we felt good that we'd not burned (pricy!) gas to do that, but instead burned calories (lots of 'em!!) instead. Now, time for ice cream!
