One piece bathing suit with underwire bra

Not sure the best forum for this, but knowing the there are lots of swimmers in this forum I thought I'd start here.

I'm 53 and a cyclist, and I swim in my mom's pool. I've always been a strong swimmer and enjoy lap swimming over just splashing around in a pool. I bought a cute 2-piece this year with a skirt on the bottom. Very cute, but not really practical for fitness/lap swimming as the top and skirt want to flop around in the water.

So, I'm looking for a nice one-piece or Speedo-type suit with an underwire bra (did I say I'm 53? ) and a C cup.

I looked through the Lands End catalog and liked many of their suits but I don't want to pay lots of return shipping before I find the right one. Being 53, I'd prefer one not too skimpy.

Being a strong swimmer and a cyclist, I've considered perhaps entering a tri in the future, in the 50+ group, but I'm not sure my knees could take the running.

Any suggestions for a one-piece suit?

I don't know of any with an underwire, but I'm a D cup and I wear both Speedo and TYR competition suits. Full coverage, and they compress the girls wonderfully and give me plenty of support when swimming. Now, I'm not going out and running in it, but it works great for lap swimming.
They're pretty cute, too.

Curious as to why an underwire bra? Most speedo-style fitness suits are fairly compressive, and would offer support similar to a sports bra. I know some women who are well endowed that might put another sports bra under a suit, but not really heard a reason for desiring an underwire in a suit.

That being said, I think there are some speedo fitness models with a bra type thing in them, though not sure if they have underwire. After a quick search on the website, they call it the 'hydro bra'. I'm sure other reliable swimwear companies (Tyr, Nike, etc.) would have similar options. Many companies also make suits in a 'conservative' cut that wouldn't be too low cut on the torso or too high cut on the legs.

While I'm here -- can anyone tell me how to determine if one is short-waisted or not? Some swimsuits are sized for a short torso, or regular torso. I know I'm not long-waisted, but I have no idea if I'm regular or short. Is there a way to know for sure?

I'm F or G and have good success with TYR and speedo competition suits. Plenty of support and boob containment due to the compression.

I can't imagine having a compression suit up top that didn't give me sausage thighs! Too bad.

I have a hard time imagining that type of compression enough to provide that much support. I don't think I want to be compressed, just supported.

This suit is listed as having underwire support. Both Garnet Hill & Sundance sell it.

I've been considering it. I like that it has coverage but doesn't look frumpy.

Tyr has some one piece suits that have shaped support (as opposed to just compression). I tried some of them on when the Tyr rep was in showing us the Spring 2010 line, and I thought they were quite flattering. NO underwire, though I wouldn't think you'd need it for a non-impact activity like swimming. I understand the *desire* for that type of support but think might be able to accomplish your goal without it, if you can find a well shaped, supportive (cupped) one-piece.

I bought the solid black with pink trim for our recent trip to Hawaii, and I practically lived in it the week and a half we were there. It never let me down. Ha! Sorry, couldn't resist that.

And it's beautiful on. It offered great support and is very slimming. And it looks great with the pink flowers-on-a-black-background sarong I bought to go with it.
