I was thinking about all of us who have both mtb's and road bikes. I'll bet this tape cleans up in a snap compared to the cork tape.

Thank you, Sundial. Like many other people here at TE, I don't look through the Categories much. I prefer to look at the New Posts. In that case, it doesn't matter which category you post in. I, for one, appreciate this posting, wherever category it's in. My bike (road bike, but who cares) desperately needs new bar tape. This stuff looks good.

That's why I kept wondering what mountain bikes have to do with the price of eggs? Then I read your post and finally looked what section this was in

I bought it last week, as my current Deda tape was feeling kind of hard and unforgiving.

Rode with it once so far. I was toying with a review in the road forum; maybe I will pop over there in a few to do one.

In short, is it worth almost 40 clams? YES. It feels sorta like you wrapped your bars with gel footpads. However, it's light weight and doesn't make the bars thick like those gel underpads do. Also they give you enough to do the bars without having to stretch it almost to breaking. The end caps are crappy looking so I used my old Deda ones.

I love my Lizard Skins on the MTB and now I can say I love them on my road bars too.

I typically dislike "me too" posts, but... me too.

Thanks to Sundial for the link, and thanks to tzvia for the mini-review!

My tape is looking a bit ragged and seems ready for replacement. I'm tempted to get the white, but I wonder how soon it'll be before it's grey. Hmmm....

You're welcome and glad I could be of service.
It's nice to read a review of the tape.
Irulan, Salsa has come out with a trekking mtb, the Fargo, that seems to borrow the old style handlebar of the 80's--with brifters and tape. Looks like mtb's may be getting back to the roots of the original clunkers.

    Thumbs up

I saw this tape last year at Interbike and couldn't wait for it to come in.
FINALLY it has hit the market, and I sell a TON of it. Yes, it's almost 3x more expensive than your old school cork. But it's sooo nice. I like the texture. You can clean it, and it has a nice cush to it.
And the colors are very vibrant.

I used to use tape on the bar ends of my old Schwinn mtb. So there

    Bar Tape on MTB

    +1 for me, too.

My MTB has bar tape (Bontrager gel) on the bar ends (shortened, old, Onz ones).

For a while, before I put on the Ergon grips, I had bar tape on bars from brake levers all the way to the bar ends ... very comfy and I liked the color over plain black.

Here are photos of my steeds new wraps. MY LBS had never used them and now wants to get them in stock. Also included the new DA 7900 rear derailleur.
