Oh but I do love to see Alberto climbhe makes it look so easy. The teamwork was terrific too. I think that should put to rest all the controversy about who Astana is working for and whether or not there is infighting on the team. They worked like a well oiled machine - whooohoo. Even Klodi, who had me worried the way he used to sabotage Jan....

I'm sure that mon dieu merde, was probably the first thing on his mind... (do you suppose the auto censor picks up languages other than English....), but not take that Lance. I'm going to bet he's a big enough boy to understand that while his win was VERY important to him, to France and to the stage, the chess match that is the chase for the overall win took precedence to the overall leaders, including Lance, over chasing him down unnecessarily... at 29th and 4:26 (and that is after today) back he could probably even try the same thing on the next stage and get away with it. He'll also get a bit of a reprimand for not zipping up. Every Tour at least one guy does this, and sometimes we learn that they then got into a little trouble for it. It is a shining moment for the sponsor, the money shot if you will, the photo of the winner crossing the finish line, proudly displaying the name of their sponsor. Shirt unzipped = no sign of the name of the people forking out all the money for the team = unhappy sponsor.
That said, I'm surprised more don't just fall off their bikes out of losing their concentration due to sheer exhaustion and joy.
He was great to watch, I love these stages so much for the 'who is that' ? factor. It's making it very hard for folks to pick the winners in the RoadID daily contest.

Some guys work their whole careers towards a win like that without ever seeing it. To be a young French rider on a French team and take a stage like that will make him an instant hero.

Yep on everything except the Lance part. Bruyneel wasn't going after the stage win today. Why wear out the team defending the yellow jersey when you have 4 guys ready and able to pounce on order? Astana pretty much holds all the cards right now. Originally Posted by Zen
