What kind of tandem are you getting? We've been contemplating getting a lighter custom built tandem for awhile. the stoker compartment on ours is a bit small.

It's a Santana Team AL - 29 lbs before pedal, seat bags, and us! I absolutely cannot wait! It's not custom, but we fit the small frame just perfectly.

Very cool! I love riding with Thom. It's great couple time. Ours is also a Santana, the Arriva with the S and S couplers. We took it to Hawaii last year and biked the Big Island. The fit is okay - if I had never gotten my new bike I'd probably never have noticed. We've done several 90 plus mile days on it, so it's not like I'm dying But my road bike is way more comfy for me. All up it's about 45 pounds.

Thanks I am going to start to do women rides and sunday rides with a group. I am going to a parking lot and use the clipless there. I promised my grandson I would ride with him he is 4 on sunday.

Good time to use the clipless. I like the idea of taking it out ahead of a stop . I will give your starting a try on sunday.

I guess I should really start looking to see what my average speed is on the road bike is. I rise to cannondales my road is 40cm. At bikefest one guy said he had not seen a road bike that small. Sounds like you have riden everything.

I ride as long as my legs let me I have a form of MD and some times I push them to far amd they need rest. I also do karate 4 times a week and light running. The runnung my go so I can ride more. I injoy that more than running by a long shot.

What type of event do you do? I would like to do a century someday just to see if I can. I am getting there 24 was first 31 was next now I am looking at a 63. My doctor thinks I am nuts I just think I am alive and walking and stopping doing things is what is nuts to me. Hoe did you train to do your first century?
