Great Biking Snack: Fruity Oaties Recipe

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Here is the recipe for my favorite biking snack. I call it "Fruity Oaties".

    2 cups oats
1/2 cup raisins (and/or cranberries, chopped apricots, or prunes)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup peanut butter (softened in microwave)
    1/3 cup applesauce
    1 egg (well beaten)
    1 banana, mashed
1/2 cup chopped nuts (or I just use crunchy peanut butter)

Mix in large bowl. Press into a greased 9 inch baking pan. (I like to double the recipe and spread on a cookie sheet.) Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes or until edges are good and brown. Cut into squares.

Lakerider, mind if I stick this in the TE community google doc cookbook? I will credit it to your username

There are a couple biking-related sections... Pre-ride fuel, bento-box goodies (during ride) and post-ride recovery.

I put it in! Let me know if you want to write a little note to preface the recipe as I have done with mine and I will add it. I also filed it under Bento Box Goodies because it seems like you have them for the road?

    Reesha,
Yes, they're great for the road. They really give me an energy boost! I tried the link to the cookbook, but I wasn't able to get to it. What do I need to do?

I'm working on it... Did it say you had to log in?

I asked possegal who manages the Weight Loss spreadsheet for us how to make the doc available for viewing by everyone! Hopefully I'll find out soon.

It told me i didn't have permission to access that document and let me request permission.

Hearing the name of that recipe makes me want Froot Loops, something I probably haven't eaten for forty years.

I wish it weren't so much fuss to make it visible.

    In the meantime...
