    Hello California Girls....

I am just beginning to road bike, got a new to me, used specialized dolce sport which I can't wait to start to ride.

I am looking for someone to ride with casually so I can get my self back in shape. I dont' mind riding alone but also would like to have others to ride with when possible.

I don't really know how many miles I'll be riding to start, I'm going to play it by what my body says. I ride the lifecycle at the gym and manage 10 miles on their rolling hills but that doesnt correlate really well to real cycling.

Anyone interested in helping a newbie out?

    Hey M2 --

Unfortunately, I'm just a little too far away to help you out (I'm about 2hrs south of you). However, I do have a brother-in-law and family up there near Sac (Antelope), so if we get up there sometime long enough for me to bring along the bike, I'll look you up beforehand.

Have fun! Hope you can perhaps hook up with some of the Bay Area gals. I've only met up with them a couple of times, but I can vouch that they're an awesome group.

Hi, Tracy. Welcome to the bicycling life. Are you riding out on the road yet or just in the gym? Not sure where you are in Sacramento. Are you riding the American River Bike Trail?

Our group is riding much longer miles but if you can steadily increase your distance you'll be hanging with us in no time. You only missed our "newbie" ride in Davis by a few weeks.

I always recommend that new riders pick some organized rides (like to Foxy's Fall Century this weekend) as goals. It varies but the shorter distances are usually in the 20-35 mile range. A great goal is the full length of the American River Trail including Beals Point.

Also, have you looked into the two local clubs - the Sacramento Bike Hikers and the Sacramento Wheelmen?

Here are a couple links you might find helpful.

    Hi Tracy,
I'm in Sac, south Sac near Elk Grove. Since I work nights, I usually ride in the mornings. The Sac Bike Hikers have a ride everyday. They are a cool group. The morning folks are older. The afternoon group is a faster group. But almost all of their rides are no drop. Check their ride schedule, it's pretty specific. The Wheelmen are faster, and will drop you fairly fast from what I've heard from others.
I haven't been out much lately because I'm battling a cold. On the tail end now, so I'm riding with some friends Wednesday(tomorrow) morning. I'll be starting in Goethe Park and going up to Folsom on the bike trail. Pedal down is around 8-ish.....I'm supposed to meet some other friends at the Nimbus fish hatchery at 9, so I should have enough time to get there.
PM me if you want to hook up some time....
    And welcome to the board!
    Ride your ride.
