Yes! Take it up! I've been dancing since I was 8 years old and am still teaching it today. You will love it! I teach ballet, jazz and hip hop. Yes, I'm 54 and love hip hop. Of all the things I've done in my life, dance was the best. Let us know how it goes.

Check this out. These guys beat out Susan Boyle. They are amazing.

If you have no background in dance it might start out a bit rough.. what those girls are doing looks hard but it will definitely keep you in shape. http://blogs.msg.com/themonitor/2009...ditions-video/ Im not much of a dancer but i've done zumba and its great.

I have respect for anyone who loves dance and does it often/well.

I seem to have no natural sense of rhythm. ie. a group aerobic class done to music, is a disastrous experience for me. It is not exercise to me, it is worrying about staying in sych with rest of class!

Rhythm can be learned, shootingstar--honest, it can. You just need a good teacher who likes working with beginners. I used to teach beginning adult ballet and it was a ton of fun.

I am convinced that anyone can learn to dance given a good teacher who likes teaching. I bet uforgot would second this.

Listen, if I can get 5 year olds to do it (It's really too young) ANYONE can do it. Quit worrying and just enjoy yourself. That's what I tell my students. I think that's the secret with the little ones. They don't care who is watching or what their neighbor is doing, they are just having a great time. Like biking, you train, you ride hills, you become disciplined, but you love it, right? If you have to walk a hill, who cares? Lose yourself in the music. Dance is all about expressing feelings without words. If you still aren't comfortable in a class, just turn up the music at home, or as Salsabike says, you may need a different teacher, or maybe even another kind of dance.
