The babies clearly missed us while we were crewing RAAM. Each of them has been a bit more affectionate this morning. It's hard to get much done when you have a 16 pound lump of cat in your lap or a cat on your head. Cassie Cat loves my hair and Tucker loves his snuggles.

It's good to be home.

my 20 pounder has recently taken to lying right in front of me on the table where I have my computer. It's a small one, so he fills the whole surface. He'll also try to use the mouse as his pillow![]()
I love how much attention I get from my kitties when I've been gone. Henry, in particular, has to snuggle even more than he normally does--which is a lot. Sophie doesn't warm up quite as fast. She used to attack my leg when I came home from vacation, so I guess it's better that she's just standoffish.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

At the spca tonight I saw the sweetest little black boy who had his left hind leg amputated. He had it done last week and remember him in horrible, writhing pain but turned out he was having a reaction to the pain meds so once they switched he was more comfortable.
He was so friendly and sweet, I wish I could take him home but my 20lb psycho dominant cat won't hear of it.
And here I thought my kitties were huge at 15-17 pounds. Yes they love to snuggle with me too![]()
Yeh, why is it they DO that?I can follow a cat all over the house trying to pet it and be ignored, but the moment I sit down to do something else same cat will drape itself all over the keyboard/newspaper/whatever it is. Dogs are happy to be nearby, cats have to be directly in your line of sight

Cats think you are ignoring them when you are on your computer or reading. Sooo they make their presence known by sitting on your keyboard, paper or sitting in your lap with their fore legs on the table. They are so helpful.

Some days I will wake up surrounded by fur.
It's funny how they have their own personalities. I travel for work and when I return I usually get the aloof treatment from some of them, even though they all suddenly appear when they hear my voice. The mama's boy, a siamese mix, will do the sit nearby and stare thing and not come up for probably a good 24 hours, at which point he needs immediate and plentiful affection. We recently adopted another siamese cat that is small and stubbular, I spent a lot of time coaxing her out and feeding her which turned her into "my" cat. When I come home from traveling, it's like she sat under the bed the entire time (she probably DID), she needs to be close and follows me everywhere I go.
We have 2 more that are also siamese mixes, less so than the others. They are much more direct about their affection, especially after being gone. "Hey, where were you? Did you know I like ham? And cheezburgers? Pet me now. Keep going. Not done yet. Okay, done with the petting, but now I just want to sit on your chest while you sleep, is that alright?"
I suppose there's no question about who owns who...
