I love baby horses! I gave my horse a shot block this weekend, and she really liked it! Maybe that was a bad idea... but we were out on trail, and it was hot and she had just gotten kicked by one of her buddies, so sharing my expensive snack didn't seem like such a bad idea...
So cute! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

What a nicely marked baby! Trigirl, baby horses are foals, baby girl foals are fillies, baby boy foals are colts.
I was up that way looking at sale horses for a client about 5 years ago. It was beautiful. I also sold a horse I bought in Ireland up that way. I am sure it is more Ireland-like than Texas!
I wish we had some scenery like that. I am relieved when I pedal out of suburbia and don't see a Wal-Mart for over 5 miles.
Chris, what is this horse-related stuff you do? I have loved horses all my life.

yes, me too. When i was small, i'd find sticks and they would be my front legs and i'd gallop around the yard.
on my christmas list #1 was my parents reunited, #2 was always a pony; and i knew i couldn't have either....
I have enjoyed looking at your fotos, Salsa, wishing the color was a bit better so i could see if the mom was a sunburnt black horse or just a deep bay.
When i left home and moved to Idaho i did manage to buy a horse and had horses until my second son was born, twelve years later; it was not fair to the horse to split my time up between 2 babies and a full time job so I sold her.
One of my joys in going out to the countryside is being able to see horses and other livestock. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Awwwwww. Cute. Guess I'll add carrots to the saddlebag--just in case. (My DH will love that--I got chastised for carrying a full size bottle of sunblock this weekend--"what else have you got in there?! No wonder my bike is lighter than yours!")

I was a dressage and three day event rider as a kid and young adult...I was quite good, Grand Prix dressage. I was lucky enough to have excellent (if extremely old school demanding) trainers. They not only taught me to ride, they taught me to teach. I taught several gold medal young riders over a 20 year career teaching and training. I loved, loved it, but the travel, the uncertainty of income, and the general lifestyle wore me out.
I still have about six eventing students who stick with me despite my flaky schedule...and I am on the mounted patrol unit with my police department and am a mounted police instructor.
Three day eventing is like an equine tri. Dressage, cross country jumping, stadium jumping.
I have the BEST jobs!
My God, you DO have the best jobs! How gratifying to hear that.
