Hi ladies!
I'm pretty new-ish to cycling; I used to ride a long time ago but never did any races/rides/events. I've been a runner for over a decade and have run 33 races since October '06, so running is second nature for me. However, it's a whole different ball of wax incorporating the different elements of cycling. All this gear! Maintenance of my bike! Helmet! Padded shorts! With running, you need a pair of shoes, a good sports bra, some wicking socks, and a place to run. It's pretty brainless.
Cycling is a blast, though! I ride my bike to work and if I'm not walking or taking public transit, I ride. I own a car but drive very infrequently. I don't need my car in this city!
I'm planning to do my first duathlon in August and I'm super excited about that. It's a 2-mile run, 20-mile bike, 4-mile run. I need to start doing some serious brick workouts, like soon! Any du/triathletes out there have any "tricks of the trade" for transitions? Or should I just get out there and get them done already?
TIA!
