Are you talking about 650c tires, or true 26" tires? I thought only mountain and commuting/street bikes used 26" tires, and that they were always fairly fat, compared to those on a road bike. I use 650c Contis on my Aegis Swift and have never gotten a flat in over a year of riding (crossing fingers and hoping I didn't just jinx myself! )
