That sounds like a great way to get you both out there doing something. You should make the perfect duathlon partners. Have fun !!!

P.S. Love the avatar. I have that picture hanging in our half bath that we recently redecorated with a "bikes on the beach" theme.

Oh my goodness yesterday was one of the most wonderful days of my life. Everything from rolling out of the bed at 4:30 am to get that first bagel in to having the medal placed around both of our necks.

We went down on Friday and drove the ride and run courses to see what we were in for. The reality of the run course was a bit more hilly than the elevation chart led us to believe. Fortunately "G" trains hills religiously and only gritted her teeth at me a little bit. The ride course was beautiful after you got over the 3 mile uphill climb that made up the first 3 miles of the course. We headed back toward the hotel, grabbed some grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches from Denny's and hit the Dairy Queen for ice cream cones.

Saturday was hot, but oh well it is summer in Georiga. "G" did the first run leg in 23.33 minutes even with all the hills. Swapped the ankle tag, and I took off at a run out of the transition are to the mount point. I managed to get on my bike and clip in without falling or breaking a leg - life was good. I came in at right under a 16 minute pace. As a 46 year old 'soft executive type' that has only been riding for a couple of months, I'm thrilled with that result. I wore my HR monitor and it showed I road at 85 - 95% of my max until the very end and I used everything left in the tank on my final sprint. I transferred the tag back to my beautiful wife and away she went again. This time coming in at 24.22. WOW.

Okay so there just aren't a ton of folks that do Duathons and even fewer that do relays so we ended up being the only female team and of course came in first. However, we compared ourselves to the other relay teams - mixed and male and we beat the mixed team and were only a couple of minutes behind the male team. Yes I know that "G's" times made all the difference, but then she's a natural athlete that depends on her conditioning to stay safe in her everyday life. Me, well I get paid to solve problems and unfortunatley it requires lots of travel and desk time.

We have already decided we're doing Mistletoe in July and then a full olympic length in August - for those of you interested the Tri The Parks series in Georgia are very well run and reasonable in price.

    Hope to see you there.
