can't you just wash the saddle?
even leather saddles can be washed.
(note to self, do NOT sniff DH's saddle)

How do you clean it with out taking it off the bike? I don't want to mess up his fit...

Have you considered something like Febreze - on the seat, not his butt - (or Lysol)?

I've been known to spritz a little Fabreeze on the saddle before taking the bike into the shop. If my gloves can get unbearably stenchy, the part that I sit on gets even worse!

That's why they make saddles with that cut-out, as it let's the farts go *through*, where they are then dispersed by the rear wheel.

Don't think I would be sniffing my bike seat. Its bad enough that our dogs and cats sniff each other. Besides, none of my bikes have saddle bag anyway.

And I haven't given it a sniff test (not about to either). Somethings are best left alone.

Fabreez in my short, I think not. I can just imagine when I'm in ER again.

Thank you everyone...I needed a good laugh! Mr. Silver and gnat23, your posts have me rolling!!!

OMG, I can only imagine how bad a seat might stink! Mine smells like Cocoa Butter because currently I'm using Queen Helene Cocoa Butter lotion as chamois cream. Earlier in the season, it smelled like baby lotion. I have no idea why I know what my saddle smells like. I swear I don't sniff it regularly or anything.

    ROTFL!

I just don't do sniff tests. Of anything. Period. If in doubt, I wash, whether it looks clean or not, or throw it out. But why is it after Dh sniffs something unpleasant, he has the need to call me over to prove to me how stinky something is? I've already witnessed his reaction and believe him wholeheartedly, yet he adamantly insists that I share in the experience. Is that a guy thing? Or is there something wrong with him? I suspect the latter.
