Surg tech, I typically just use the cheapest tubes I can buy and haven't ever had any problems as long as I keep things inflated (pinch flats happen easily when your tire is under inflated). So I've never tried slime, and my criteria for which tube to buy is ... is it $1.50 or $1.99?

So I'm not much help there either. Tires... mileage depends on what you're riding on, etc... You can put a slider wider tire on a rim provided that you have room in the brakes, the fork, and at the chain stay support for the wider tire to spin. So it depends on your bike.
