I highly recommend eloping. DH and I eloped, and in August, we will mark our 21st anniversay.
We are doing something small-the families would kill us if we eloped, although it's very tempting.

Together our families total about 40 people so what we are planning to do is rent 2 big houses on the beach; 1 for his family and 1 for mine. My family is in Michigan and his family is in Indiana/Illinois. We are going to get married early in the week at a cute little chapel and have a reception at one of the houses. Then have Thanksgiving all together at the other house. This way, the families can make vacations out of our wedding plans and we can all spend Thanksgiving together too!

As much as I am terrified (and truly sick) of wedding talk, CONGRATULATIONS!

-Good story ahead. some might find this amusing-

the reason why i'm terrified is because, at the beginning of my 1 yr diploma course (just ended) I made 3 other good girlfriends. At first 1 was getting married... then 2.... then now all three... all in December... its like.. CONTAGIOUS. Also every single conversation we had since september last year more or less revolved ard weddings. (trust me thats alot of conversations we shared the exact same class schedules and are in all the same classes) Gown, cake, photoshoot, banquet, guestlist, in-laws, customs, videographer.... (oh by the way, weddings here are huge. the smallest ones involve hundreds of guests.)

I think when my day comes i will try eloping.
