Hi all... OK, so many of you know that I have been riding with a new friend... she got her bike about 7 or 8 weeks ago and signed up for a 50 mile event... of course, this wasn't just ANY 50 mile event but a ride called the Tour de Poway... 50 miles with 3500ft of climbing! You leave a park, ride a mile and hit the first climb... 5 miles, with NO BREAKS! AAACK!!!!!

Here are a few pics of a very successful day on the bike... all 3 of the other riders completed this as their FIRST event ever! The guy has ridden but it's not been since college... I'm so thrilled for them... next goal for them is Tour de Palm Springs in Feb!

PurePink... I know you're reading this lady! Comeon and join in the posting fun

this was a crazy descent... narrow road with U-turn switchbacks... we'd been riding with a guy on the climb... chatting etc... came around a corner and he was down and getting ready to be transported... his shoulder lookd bad. Dislocated for sure... needless to say we sat up and decided to take it easy on this downhill...

and SUCCESS! Pure Pink is right behind me in this pic... coming across the finish line.

This was her first ever event, and first ever athletic accomplishment. Her first number (I said to frame that baby! ) and a big deal! A century is next on her list of goals... I have no doubt she will complete that with no probs!

Thanks for all the congrats! I could NOT have done it without the incredible training and support from bikerchick68!! The day was amazing. It has always been my goal to "get a number". I finally did it! I couldn't believe how emotional it was. I cried at the finish line like a baby and I cried again today after I got these pics from bikerchick68. Who knew?!?!

PurePink! So glad you're finally posting... you cry all you want... that was a BIG personal accomplishment and goal you set... and you didn't just achieve it, you blew it outta the water! I know we could've done the metric... but must admit I was FINE with getting off the bike when we did! Poway Rd is not the climb I wanna do hill repeats on that's for darn sure!

LED- hope this helps inspire your friend... I am a firm believer that you can do whatever you set your mind to.
