    Smart Cat

Tucker is very observant. He likes to get outside to visit the feral cats. He knows how the French doors to the backyard open and has tried to move the latch. It's a good thing he has no thumbs.

He has figured out that he can hit the screen doors just right and cause them to open.

Our screens are pocket doors and roll up into the wall. He's learned that he can go under the screen.

He knows turning on the alarm means we'll soon be going out the front door.

He knows that if Thom puts on his motorcycle boots we'll soon be going out the garage door.

He knows where the canned food is kept and scratches at the cabinet when he's hungry.

Cassie... she knows the sound of the can opener.

Actually Cassie is quite talented. She can leap up onto the bed, carrying the bug part of bug on a stick. Speaking of which, she's just brought bug on a stick to me.

    I'm easily trained too. Playtime!

Our cat Enza is likewise smart. We had to have a locksmith come out and fix all our doors because she figured out how to open two of our three doors. It was disconcerting to get up in the morning and see doors ajar!

both mine are pretty dumb. Though I must say if I had to choose, I'd say Morley's smarter of the two, despite the fact he's got some brain damage from an encounter with a car (prior to coming home with me).

He knew to annoy the dog enough to get him up which in turn woke me up - because he's hungry.

my cat morris (female, go figure) is dumb as they come. she's 11. every day, twice a day, since forever, DH takes her bowl into the kitchen, puts the food in, I give her an insulin shot, then DH takes her bowl back to the laundry room where her food and water are kept - and have always been. yet every day she has to follow him, she can't figure out that he's going to the same place as always. like she's never been there before.

("hey where ya goin? can i come? whats in there? whatcha got there? can i see?")

    sheez

and i love her to pieces!
