Well I am going to be in a relay of all cancer survivors this weekend. .... I am going to do the bike race.
There are 5 total cancer survivor relay teams. They said it has over 2200 signed up.....omg that seems like a lot. Concidering the same venue (for my first tri) had only around 600 people!!
I am taking the rest of the week off.... after trying to kill myself on sundays ride my left leg is BLACK! It keeps getting darker and darker but I feel if I had not caught myself (for some reason I got off balance going up hill at about 20mph). My husband asked me last night who keeps beating the crap out of me...LOL
what a week......

Tina, we had 3700 here in Seattle last August, and it all ran quite smoothly and was a ton of fun. You've already done your first, so you'll be good! Just have the most fun you can with it.
"My predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved;I have been given much and I have given something in return...Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and an adventure." O. Sacks
Hey Tina,
I did that tri every year for the three years that I lived in Austin. It's an amazing event and they manage the numbers quite well by starting everyone in waves. You'll know your wave time after you pick up your packet on Saturday. Be prepared to stand in a line for packet pickup and allow for extra time to wander the exhibits...nice stuff.
Also, be sure to let some air out of your tires when you drop your bike off on Saturday. The heat can cause the tubes to explode...you'll hear some of them popping if you are there late in the afternoon! Don't worry if you forget to bring your pump the next day as they have support (perhaps the bicycle chain?) guys that'll lend you one in the morning.
My coach would tell me that at this point in the game...relax, the hay is in the barn! You've trained hard and you only risk injury at this point.
Most of all...have fun! The ladies are all very supportive and you'll hear the runners chear you on as you bike up that one steep hill...ok, there are a few steep hills, but on one of them you'll see the runners in the field and hear them as well. Good crowd support too and a great finish line!
I did this race when it was still in California. I had a blast! I had only trained minimally and finished just fine. The support and camaraderie of all the women (and some gents) was terrific. No pressure. I was hoping to try the Disneyland venue, but it is now a duathlon. Anyhooo, you sound more than ready and I know you will enjoy yourself!
Have fun! I'm sure you'll do great!
