Great stories. Yes, after 100 mile rides are the double metrics and then (you guessed it) double centuries.
I've done double metrics twice now and would do them again. However, those were relatively flat- a few hills here and there- so I"m not a judge as to that distance including hills. BUT as anything else, you don't know until you try! Good for you...doing recovery ride the day after will not only keep those muscles in shape, but also help with your endurance.
Endurance comes with consistently doing long mileage on your regular riding days. I am now doing metric centuries at least twice a week and I have found that has made me stronger!
I don't usually eat much on organized rides either, I do drink Accelerade and I do have salt water when I get home (plus endurolytes on the ride). Why salt water-seems to help cramping. 1/2 t in a very large glass of warm water. Also drink Endurox4 afterwards when I can as that will really make a difference the next day when you ride.l
Sounds like you are doing just fine! Keep up the good work and before you know it you'll be riding 200 miles a week and thinking nothing of it!![]()
