My new road bike doesn't fit... sigh...

So I finally decided to put the pedals on my new Felt team garmin series bike and give her a go. The sizing was a big question mark to me, but I figured I would give the 47 a try. That is the smallest they make.
Well I got on her and immediately knew she was too big. And with an 80mm stock stem, there is no changing that. Plus I am a big proponent of the FRAME being the correct size before anything else. I measured her up against the QR and she is a good inch off in the tt.

Bummer, she really is a cute bike. She is what we call the "poser"edition, because she's alu and has entry level componets. But MAN is she cute. AND by buying her Felt donated money to the team. So I guess some good came of it.
Sigh..... I guess she goes on the sales floor tomorrow. BUMMER. I was looking forward to adding one to the stable.

(Of course my Giant rep will consider it karma for having not picked up a Giant. I can hear her now....)

oh man, you REALLY need a good bike that fits you! What's the point of having a store if you can't have THE BIKE?

Well I guess that is the upside to owning a shop... You can just put it on the floor and move on.

Still bummed tho! Felt really needs to work on their sizing. Their tri bikes don't go below a 51!!! Thats just crazy! And I don't want a mint green or lavendar womens bike. I wanted the one with the argyle frame and wheels!

Hey Running Mommy, thats a real bummer. Though out of interest I have tried the Giant Avail Advanced, Durace version, maybe your Giant rep might let you try one. Its nice and elegant too, all white and comes in some good small sizes

sorry about the Felt, but if you have a shop I figure you can pick almost any make you want - do you have BMC?
If so have you tried to ride the BMC time machine tt03 in XS? I had the chance to ride a couple of time machine models (both the tt03 and the tt02) a little while ago, and they fit great for small people too.
I'm fairly short, at 5'4". Actually, I can also fit on the size S tt03 although I like my TT bikes on the smaller side.
And, BMC runs 700's on the XS size too - which is great!
And - they do look gorgeous

yeah I know... argyle!!! On the top tube, and accents on the aero dish of the wheel. Just the right amount. Soo cute! Without being too much.sigh..

My Giant rep was none too pleased to hear I had picked up a Felt... It's bike karma I guess. Something telling me I'm mean't for a Giant.

Oh and Doc, I'm a Felt and Giant dealer, so those are my two options.

Oooops... did I say BMC? ooops!

Well, here is something that may make you and your Giant rep happy: I actually purchased my first Giant about last month. A big change, considering that I grew up with Bianchi and always bought Bianchi except twice in like 30 years (yes, I confess to having owned one BMC and one Lapierre).
Until now!
So in April I got a Giant TT bike, the trinity alliance 1 - and I am quite pleased with it. It's fast and much less expensive than the time machine and the chrono - and it gets the job done

So far I only found two little negatives:
1- the stock bike comes with Shimano drivetrain only - no way to get it Campy.
2- I get away with the morphological exception rule - which works out for me - but the seat tube angle is quite steep, so the average setup on this bike is not UCI legal right out of the box. Maybe it was intended more for triathlon and less for TT but that's something to keep in mind...
All in all, the bike is nice, fast, light - and really that price is unbeatable. So if you are considering it, give it a try - it's worth it!

But - please don't tell my Bianchi's

Funny, Giant has struggled the last few years on whether they wanted to build a TT machhine or a tri machine. With the explosion of tri's in the last few years... It was a no brainer.

Dan Empfield- founder of Quintana Roo and slowtwitch.com apparently has had great things to say about the trinity. I do see an Aeryn in my future, but I really need a road bike. My QR is fine, and I can't justify getting a new one.

It's so refreshing to see someone on a Giant! I really love the brand. I love Bianchi as well, we were a dealer last year but they wanted too much from us this year.

I'm glad to hear that many of you are talking about Giant bikes!! They are a great company, are probably the most financially sound mass produced company right now. They actually produce many of the frames that many of you aare riding from other companies...ummm.

RM, your new bike sounds great, too bad it didn't fit. Before you buy another, is there a way for you to study the geometry of the bike that you currently ride vs anything that you might be interested in the future? That should definitely help with fitting, and not have another great bike in the shop that doesn't fit you. Generally speaking, small and large bikes are a bit harder to sell than many others... although I'm sure you won't have a hard time selling the argyle
