    change the stem?

As I was riding my GF Marlin and wishing I was sitting up more, I thought, what if I switch the stem? If I turn the stem around so it is going towards me, I won't be as stretched out and will sit up more. It looks like I will have enough cable length to do it. Are there any concerns? If the fit isn't right, I can change it back and no cost in trying!

You're going to seriously mess with the steering if you do that (if you're talking about what I think you're doing... having the stem come back over the top tube...) So don't

Youc an change the stem to a higher angle one, you can look into handlebars with more of a riser or a backsweep or you can look at butterfly bars (Hefzilla just had a long thread on getting more upright that you should look for.

Yeah, don't point the stem backwards. Get a shorter one and/or raise the angle up higher by flipping it over.
