I rode the Cap2Cap Century yesterday, but decided to turn around 36 miles in. It was just too hot and humid. All in all, not too bad though. 70 miles and my personal longest.

We called SAG for a kid who sprained an ankle and didn't have a phone so that was our good deed of the day.

56 beautiful miles and over 3000ft of elevation yesterday (Saturday).

I held off and held off hoping the skies would clear off enough to get a good'un in, and it did! Unfortunately that meant I took off at a relatively late hr...3pm!

I made a big newbie mistake of not taking enough fuel or stopping to eat something when I could. Boy did my legs pay for it about 6 miles from home... no bonk, but serious cramping issues goin on...

When I did get home, I hobbled up my back steps and quickly mixed up some Recoverite and took my ultram (for my chronic back pain) and I took an anti-inflammitory also. Those things combined with the next step - the idea of which I got from "Vireo" in a previous thread I started - really helped calm my leg pain down CONSIDERABLY within an hour! Two words: ROLLING PIN.

He had mentioned an item called "The Stick" in my other thread...but since I didn't have one and I was in such pain... I thought...what better use for my rolling pin?? LOL I never use it for baking anyway..why not? Holy cr*p..that thing works like magic! No kidding.

If anyone else has threded about this in the past, my apologies for bringing it up again, but man-o-man.. I think that was the magic "get out of pain" card trick! It redestributed that lactic acid around and took the pain away within 40-60min

ANyway - I wanted to ride again today, but alas... Mother's Day.. could not sneak away long enough.

I did the Cap2Cap, too, but not the century. I did 51 miles from the Richmond start. It was great to have a ride start just a mile from my house...I rode to the ride.

It was quite hot and humid. I was not up for the 100 miles. I was real happy to see the beer truck at the end!

I had my weekly club road race on over 41km and came 2nd and averaged 32.4km/hr which I was stoked about, nearlly 1km/hr faster then the last time I raced the same course and it didn't hurt nearlly as much!!
