Actually, the things are not waterproof. So i use a plastic bag if my bike is sitting outside or is being transported in the rain. We bought them we tried to use them found them rather disappointing (maybe they have improved?)
so yeah, plastic bag for me. And if you wrap them right, they don't come off. I never used the seat cover while riding nor do i use a plastic bag in those circumstances.

OK I just read Bike Snob's blog on the same item...yes it makes sense to use a plastic bag...for sitting out...but it's probably better under the butt.

Please excuse me for changing the thread subject, but is this true? This could be the coolest bike accessory ever.

I'll appreciate any details. Thank you.

This site is full of opinion. Now how good is the advice? It's getting harder and harder to find the good advice because we are getting all sorts of posts, opinions and advice from people who don't know what they are talking about. You have to wade through the muck and the nonsense just to get to the good information. I love reading about others experiences. I love reading about gear ratios, maintenance tips, and product reviews. I don't mind having fun, and thread drifts, but I don't need to hear disparaging remarks, put downs and garbage on every single post or thread, and I certainly don't need to hear negative opinions from someone who has had no experience in whatever subject is being posted.

Those posters that were always a terrific source of experience and information don't seem to be around too much anymore. I wonder why? I'd like to see TE return to the informational and helpful site that it used to be. It was a comfort zone for everyone, no matter how experienced. You could ask any question and not fear that someone would laugh or snicker at you. From now on, instead of buying into the negativity, I'm just going to hit the ignore button.

Instead of reading all of the cr*ppola on this thread, go on over to the touring thread. Our very own Melalvai is making her way back home (on her loaded bike!) to Columbia MO from Nebraska. She has ridden many many miles and will be home in a few days. We should be supporting our very own members on these ventures.

    Now let this thread die.

I for one, hope you talk me out of spending money on all sorts of bike stuff, 'cause seriously it really doesn't take much more than a hat to drop and I want a new set of cranks or a bike.

And if it's red, hold on to your wallet. Why do you want a bike? You have two really nice bikes. The Litespeed is speedy and The Flame is all purpose. Maybe you need a Downtown bike for times like these
