I really like it. I'm still tweaking her. It has a Shimano IG8 Nexus hub.

I think the valkyrie is a stunning bike. I would love to get a hold of one. I'm not really sold on the fork but it is almost everything i am looking for in a bike, not that I am looking.
Thanks TE! You pushed me half way over!

What I want to know about the Valkyrie:

does it have long reach brakes to accommodate wide-ish tires and fenders?

    and

does it have eyelets for rack mounting?

There are 3 Valkyries...a touring bike, a commuter and another one.

That Valkyrie has some monster gears!
The Jamis specs say 11-32 but it's a triple. I'm confused

    err what is the confusion?

and why does your collection seem to constantly be growing? just to be an enabler, have you considered buying a soma frame (like this mixte for step through ease) and then taking the parts from one of your other bikes to create a nice touring bike. the pros would be a nice/ moderately light frame, gears in an actual touring range (my bike is set up like that jamis, and I appreciate it but I pack light and like my bike for riding fast as well slow and steady), you can "reuse" a bike that you are not getting as much use out of, and it would probably be cheaper than a new touring bike.

    I went bike shopping today.
The Aurora is kinda heavy and there is no place that has a surly in stock

Also, I thought that Jamis had a sloping top tube unless I'm thinking of someone elses bike

LBS thought i might consider a Coda
