Bike-to-work Day at the Uni! Wheeee! I bike-commuted in spite of the rain this morning. Earned a rain cover for my backpack + a water bottle and a tube patch kit for my efforts. And then it cleared up and was sunny (though rather cold) for the ride home.
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

My bike ride today was a short one, just about 11 miles. But half of that was done with a small group of people led by Phil Keoghan of the TV show The Amazing Race. Here is me and Phil.

He was funny and sweet and gracious and he's biking across the US for a good cause! I'm so glad I took the day off (though I'll now have to do a lot of work tonight) and got out of my warm bed into the drizzly day.

Had an appointment for a blood test in the middle of the morning today, so instead of getting in to work just in time to leave again I took the morning off for a little extra bike ride. Cycled up the Rheidol Valley cycle route for a bit. Beautiful ride along the river. It was drizzling a little when I left, but it soon started clearing up. Lots of cute lambs and foals in the fields and tons of birds flittering about the hedgerows. Did 16 miles, ending up at the doctor's well in time to be poked, then another mile up the hill to work. Weather kept improving through the day and my ride home was in beautiful sunshine with a nice tailwind.

Why thank you Sundial. My friend told me today that I look like the Cheshire cat. She said I have cattitude, and as a cat person, I take that as a real compliment.
