Hugs to you and Lydia. She looks like she is content and that is what we pet-parents can give to our fur-babies...

    Lisa,

I am so sorry to hear poor Lydia is struggling, what a fighter. Tons of positive vibes from Texas and Heidi the schnauzer who really wishes cats loved her back!

    Poor little Lydia.

Perhaps she's way older than you knew (was she a kitten when you got her?).

    Vibes for improved health!

Sadly, Lydia is getting worse, she now has respiratory infection on top of the rest of it, and has stopped drinking and eating altogether.
My vet is away for the weekend, but as she told me, there is nothing else that we can do to that we aren't doing already. She's already on antibiotics, and any more would be toxic- the water injections are not reversing the downward trend- her kidneys are not responding and seem to be shutting down.
The vet is out of town now for the weekend (God, doesn't it always seem to happen this way?). We're just keeping her warm, petting her a lot, and giving smaller fluid shots to try to keep her comfortable, but she's having breathing congestion problems now and I honestly doubt now that she'll make it through the weekend. Poor poor baby.
She's only 8 years old. All this seemed to have developed over 2 weeks, with just the past few days being very bad. Lydia had a kidney crisis already about two years ago, from which she had bounced back with the water shots and switching to wet food. I just hate this evil kidney failure thing that kitties seem to be susceptible to these days. Lydia and my DH are especially close cuddle buddies. We are so sad today.
