    What's your competitive style?

My name is Kim Perkins, and I’m a doctoral student at Claremont Graduate University. I study how competition and cooperation plays out in the lives of athletes.

If you cycle in races at any level, it would really help me out if you would take my online survey on competitive style. It takes people about 10 minutes, and at the end you can find out what is your primary competitive style, with a few thoughts on how you can use it to your advantage.

I need more women cyclists in my sample, so please let me hear your voice!

For more information and to take the survey, please click here: http://tiny.cc/compstyle.

If you want to get in touch with me, email me at freewheelskate (at) yahoo ((dot)) com.

    Thank you!

Do you also cycle regularily? Just curious. Some of us don't compete in cycling but for myself, I find it helpful as activity that motivates me in other areas of my life..or at least keeps me goal-oriented in many different ways.

Some of us here compete in foot races but not in cycling. Is the survey for any sport or just cyclists?

Yes! Oakleaf, if you or others compete in running or tri, I'd love to have you take the survey.

Thank you all so much for participating!

I cycle on weekends now, but not as much as I'd like -- or as I used to! Now that I'm in grad school, my main sport is typing http://forums.teamestrogen.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

I used to be a pro/elite inline speedskating competitor, though, and spent a lot of time on the bike. I did a few Centuries up in the Bay Area and loved it! I hope to get riding again this summer.

Thanks again -- if you find it fun, feel free to pass it on!

Hi! Not sure what happened to my other reply -- I'll see if they both show up eventually!

Thanks for taking the survey. Feel free to forward it!

I cycle semi-regularly, but I used to compete at inline speedskating, and back then I spent a lot of time on a bike on the roads of Northern California.

The avatar pic of me is on the Rhone Road in Lichtenstein, with the Alps in the background. I was in Switzerland doing the Inline 111k road race.

    oops, forgot to say ---

    Oakleaf--

Yes, if you compete in running or tri, PLEASE take the survey! It's okay if you do other sports, too, but I need runners & cyclists in particular.

    Thank you!

Sure! It's fine for anyone who competes to take the survey! I'm looking for runners and cyclists primarily, but people in other sports can take it, too.

I just did the survey as well, and the instructions stated running or cycling.

Well his computer froze in the middle, so he gave up. Maybe he'll resume it. I'd say if I'm medium competitive / hypercompetitive, then he's majorly competitive.
