How many bikes is too many? I have 4 and everytime I go to a bike store whether it be local or on vacation, I can always find more that I would like to have... How about you guys?

I currently have 10 + a tandem (we have two of those, so I'm claiming one as mine). DH has equally as many, or maybe one more. That's a total of 20 - 22 in the basement.

Optimal number of bikes is current number of bike +1

I'm at 5, I'm trying to talk myself down to 4. 1 mountain bike, 1 commuter, 3 road bikes.

I'm half intruiged by fixies, so I keep thinking I'll make or buy one, but I kinda think that's a dumb idea, 'cause I seriously like my gears on hills.

I'm a monogamist. I have one cyclocross bike now that takes me pretty much anywhere I want to go, and it will be either sold or donated when I can afford to get an upgraded one.

    I have 3, and 1/2 of a tandem
I use my Davidson almost exclusively, sometimes I ride my mixte for short rides
and my old Hybrid is in the basement waiting to make fruit smoothies.
and yes, i'd buy another bike in a flash! (so i'm not looking now, i don't need
    the temptation)

Three road bikes, one half of a tandem...lol, and a new baby on the way. My mountain bike shipped yesterday! Yay!!

I'd like to say that I'm totally happy and content with what I have now, but I'd really like a beautiful lugged steel fixed gear. Maybe someday!

Woohoo! I'm down to 8.5 thanks to dachsund. The 0.5 is my half of the tandem.

And this doesn't count the Marin Mt Vision frame and shock looking for a new home. Shock has been rebuilt and Pushed Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I like that you guys are making me feel sane.

It's okay for me to have 5 bikes, because I don't have 8-10 like you guys

Two bikes- one for fun road riding, one with grocery panniers and racks for errands & shopping. It's all I really need because I basically do only those two types of riding!

2 road bikes (one is the brevet/trainer bike w/schmidt hub and lights)
    1 mtn bike
1/2 of a tandem (or really 1/3, as we ride w/ our daughter)
    1 Ducati

I'm really satisfied w/ my bikes right now. Next one will be the aluminum frame Pegoretti I believe. But that is a LONG way down the road (so to speak).
