I imagine once the snow hits, the trainer is going to burn through them quicker? I guess the front tire has a longer life span then because your bum isn't on them.

I buy a separate tire (not a really cheap one because they often wear through pretty quickly) that I use solely for when I'm on the trainer. Then you keep your good, more $ tires for the road. Or once your good road tire starts to look old, you can use that for the trainer (if it blows while you're on the trainer, no big deal)
