Great new feature at TE - Outfits!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

We're really excited to announce a new feature that we've been hard at work developing for the past few weeks. TE now has the ability to create, share, and vote on outfits.

On any product page, you can drag the product and alternate view photos into your "closet" (closet tab next to the size chart tab), then take the items in your closet and create either private or public ("published") outfits.

Public outfits become visible on the pages of each product in the outfit, and other users can scroll through the available outfits and vote for their favorites.

You can email links to outfits and even embed the outfits in web pages and blogs (it may not work in all blogs - let us know if you run into any troubles - we've only tested it on our http://blog.teamestrogen.com (blogger)).

We're hoping for increased traffic - now if thousands of people all start to create outfits, we could be in trouble, but that's the kind of trouble we'd like to have!

The only scenario I can think of for piecing together a cycling outfit electronically and voting, is there was a group of cyclists who wanted to cycle in some sort of similar outfit for an event..and they wanted to view and chat up about it among themselves.

Not sure how people here buy cycling clothing... I tend to just buy each separate (top, bottom or whatever) and then secondly from my memory, what might go ok in my present cycling closet. And alot of that stuff...is purchased in Canada, not necessarily in TE's inventory at all.

When it comes to cycling, I assess cycling wear and the "total look", more by "comfort", "durability" and whatever I have available that is still clean.

Hence, I don't need anyone's vote to help me. Today I wore a Cannodale orange and white long-sleeved jersey, a short black fleecy vest that was 5 inches shorter than the jersey which was covered up by Pearl Izumi Whisper screaming neon lime green cycling jacket...and a pair of ripped black knee-length lycra shorts. Near the end of ride today, I discovered shorts developed a couple holes near the crotch...great. I just finished mending that a few days ago..

    You get the picture.

Maybe I'm being narrow-minded/lacking imagination about this new tool.

I was just thinking the same thing - I choose my outfits by what ISN'T in the laundry, LOL!

ClockworkOrange - I love those jerseys! I'd wear one too if they came in adult sizes.

I may have to grab one for DD.

Wonder if we could twist their arms (a lot), and see if they would make a couple of adult ones?

I felt it was just so me, humph!

Clock - it isn't just you. I saw that shirt and thought immediately how I would buy it for my sister. I tease her about how much she likes her bike and she just laughs. (Not that I don't like mine, but she's been really funny with her bike and we joke all the time).

So I think this feature is nifty. I tried it out yesterday. I have to say, though, I like "my closet" as a kind of place to keep all of the things you might possibly be interested in, but I was a little disappointed in the "outfit" part. It would be it would be much more useful if it were possible to see the outfits from both the front and the back, and if the pieces were shot from the same angle. I understand that this is probably limited right now by the manufacturers' pictures TE receives, but something to think about.

For example, the picture below gives me *some* idea of what the pieces would look like together, but it leaves something to be desired, especially if you are working with pieces that both have colorblocking/design lines and you are not sure if they'll work together (this is actually a major problem with ordering clothing online and I was hoping the outfit feature might provide a solution):

Id like to be able to see if the shorts meet up with the top length and such. All I own is black so everything matches. WHAT I'd really like , is group testing of clothes. Say, you get a long legged chick, a pear shaped one, and one with a wider waist, all the same size. Then, they try on shorts etc and tell how the legs feel, waht the waist is like, etc. Then you get a idea.

Or you can do what I did a few years back and call TE and say hey would this, this and this look good together? And then when you call back a week later to order it they're all oh yeah this, this and that in size x? And you're like, "Whoa!" And then you tell everyone you meet about them?

Oh... maybe this is to discourage that behavior, but either way I still rock that hot outfit. Except the black socks. Left those in the bed of my pickup on accident and they got bleached and ugly.
