Question Yet another which shorts to buy question

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I desperately need some new shorts and I want to order from TE. I've read all of the favorite shorts posts but I'm stuck between two, actually 3 choices. Since I don't have a way to try on any of my options I'm wondering if I can get some opinions on the specific shorts I'm looking at or better yet a comparision from anyone who has tried more then one of my options. So here are the shorts I'm looking at:

    1. Terry T-Short
    2. Sheebeast Triple S shorts
    3. Seebeast Pedal Pushers

I realize these are all very different pants. I guess my problem is that I can only buy one right now and I'm not sure which one would suit me best for over all use. I like the shorter length fo the sheebeast shorts but wonder if I won't get more use out of the knickers because it's getting cooler outside. Plus I have a century coming up in October and it's right near the ocean. I'm worried I'll be cold if I just wear shorts. The Terry's seem like a good compromise, longer but still shorts, but I seem to remember long ago there was some complaint about Terry shorts not holding up very well.

I tired on some PI shorts last week and didn't like the padding at all! So I really want to try one of the women specific brands but I just can't decide.

    thanks,
    Mendy

    Narrowing it down to two

    Hi Mom2Twins,

I can help make this a little easier.

If the chamois is your concern, then it might help to know that the Shebeest Triple S shorts and the Shebeest Pedal Pusher have the same chamois. You can see a picture of it here: http://www.teamestrogen.com/referenc...stic%20chamois In fact, the two are essentially the same garment (same chamois, same fabric, 8 panel). The Pedal Pusher is simply longer.

I loooooove my Triple S Shorts and my Pedal Pushers. The Pedal Pushers are a great choice this time of year - long enough to keep your knees warm on chilly morning commutes, but light enough that you don't roast on your ride home in the afternoon once it's warmed up.

The Terry T-short is constructed from very similar fabric. It's chamois is a bit more basic. You can see it here: http://www.teamestrogen.com/referenc...less%20chamois

I hope this info helps. Give us a call on Monday if you need some more advice. Our hours are 8-5 PST, M-F.

Susan (who should be out riding instead of spending a sunny Sunday afternoon doing paperwork. )

I think these are both good choices in shorts. Shorts v. peddle pushers is a personal call I would be inclined to get shorts and leg warmers to try to extend things a bit for not too much more $.

That said, I'm currently nursing the saddle sores from you know where...They kept me off the bike almost a week trying "home remedies" and I finally went to the doc who ordered me off the bike another week with scrips for them I got them with a pair of terry shorts - mind were hand me downs from a friend and actually have a seam in the pad. Combine that with leaving them on too long, and I got a huge problem

I just picked up a pair of the shebeest shorts at REI marked way down - just happened to see them. I haven't had a chance to try them yet, though They're the first "nice" (read not the performance least expensive option available) shorts I've bought for myself, so I'm excited about trying them. I'll report back, oh, about Friday of next week (when I will get to go on a ride finally, assuming all heals well...and you can bet it will be a slow ride...)

Good luck to you, and may you avoid the problem I'm currently experiencing...

Thanks Susan and CA. I think I'm sold on the Sheebeast but now I'm debating between the shorts or knickers. the point about shorts and knee warmers going a longer way then knickers is a good one. I'm going to make up my mind and order tonight I think.
