    Arpil 15 (tax day) Rides

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I hope you weren't all stuck inside doing your taxes today! Luckily I was getting money back this year (a small miracle) so mine were done weeks ago.

It was cold and windy here today. Of course, coldness and windyness are subjective...but for mid-April, today was a cold day for this area. We got a little snow last night, but luckily not enough to hinder riding today. I only did 22 miles...I would've gone longer but my nose wouldn't quit running.

I have named today's ride "The Wild Kingdom" ride. I nearly hit multiple squirrels, a wild turkey, and a Chihuahua. I saw a fox, two jack rabbits, and several deer. I was barked at but not chased by two scary loose dogs, and I passed a field of sheep with lots of cute baby lambs. I also said hello to my two donkey friends who I always pass on my normal route. Today one of them had 3 birds sitting on his back. They are starting to shed their winter "fur" so they're looking a little rough around the edges.

OMG, I cannot believe I just spelled April wrong on the thread title!

I don't know how to fix it. When I go to "edit", the thread title isn't available for changes.

Geez, I am illiterate today Arpil?!?!? hahahaha

Ha no rides here today. Wind gusts to 53mph, about an inch of rain, and "minor coastal flooding" which means I need boots to go out to my car, or that I could launch my kayak in the back yard and paddle many miles in any of 3 directions: North, West, or South. Many many miles. Oh and sleet too. Supposed to be nice this weekend though.

I did a 30 mile, 3200' hooky ride today, a coastal loop...headwinds were fierce. Picked up some groceries at the farm store on my way home.

    Thumbs up

First real ride of the season!!

    32mile hill route in 38 Degrees w/ 15mph winds at 6am.

Beautiful morning otherwise. I was well geared which helped with the elements. Saw the sunrise, heard roosters (literally) & met a few geese along the way.

A little disappointed by the average mph I clocked in at, but I know the trainer rides all winter have been deceitful. Getting used to new gear and real bicycling takes a bit to get into the groove again. I still really enjoyed myself.

    Good ride!

I did 12 miles today. I know this may not seem a lot to many of you, but this was my second ride after not riding at all for over five years, so I'm pretty happy. My average speed was only 8 mph, but hey, I gotta start somewhere, right? I was just happy I didn't have a heart attack on the hills

hey no worries, I'm just getting back into it myself.

Did a 11.8 mile ride...13mph avg, found some hills! I'm sick of the flat around here...so I headed north towards where I used to live. Goal for a couple of weeks is to ride to my old town...14.8 miles away, and ride back.

I mailed my return and check yesterday...sealed it with a kiss and sent it off with a nice BIRD Y towards the IRS. lol Seriously though.. I'd rather GET an interest free loan than GIVE one... esp to the Treasury. :P

Oh, Redd....I used to love riding around Topsfield...Georgetown...Hamilton and Wenham. Ahhhh..... Gads, some awesome rides up thatta way.

For my Tax Day "ride" - I wheeled my bike out of the LBS where I spent $86 getting it repaired after its disasterous commute the other day.

    Cool

I dropped my taxes off at 7 then headed out. We tooled around downtown for a couple hours - stopping by the new ball park. The first game is tonight but we went in - and got kicked out - but not before we took some pics.

(now if I could figure out how to get them in here...)

Mid 60s and sunny the next three days and I will be sitting in the Arena at the Universtiy of Dayton for two of them!
