What a ride, Oakleaf !!!

I just rode to church and took a longer loop home to see how my overhauled hub rode - sweetly THe really nice guy at the bike coop showed me how to do it... tho' he did most of it (but it's so simple it would be hard to show and not do... *and* ... welp, if your'e at all mechanically competent it can be hard to watch me, and I was especially distractible). I haven't been on this one-speed in a while, though, so when I turned into the 20 mph headwind I was feeling aroudn for shifters that aren't there

IF I can get my taxes done *and* this little writing project, then mebbe I can sneak out for another short blast... I want to get to 2000 miles for the year this week and it's going to take riding...

Pouring here today! And windy. I'm so not riding in this!
So, rode yesterday with the club-- 27 mile loop around two lakes. Very pretty. Some rain and cold, but not too terrible!

Maybe I'll get a run in today instead!?

I did a 35 mile ride on my new Surly and realized that I desperately need a new saddle. The girlie bits as well as the sit bones were sore by the end. Not fun. But, the ride was great otherwise. I love the way the bike handles and it's a lot lighter than I thought it would be. I did go with the compact double instead of having a triple put on, and I'm still debating on whether or not that was a mistake. I tend to ride higher and lower gears and not a lot in between, but I did have some troubles getting the exact gearing because of the gaps. I think I'll get used to that. It was a gorgeous morning but now is getting a bit windy. Glad I managed to miss that part!
